Trade Floor Support Analyst - Java J2EE SQL. Business aligned global Equities IT support group requires Support Analysts/Trade Floor Support Analyst/Developers with 2-3 years commercial IT experience supporting/trouble-shooting Java/web applications. The role is situated in close proximity to the business & will support Front Office to Back Office Sales, Trading & Operations across the global Equities & Derivatives trading platforms - in house developed Java J2EE systems and trading software - IRESS, Imagine, Orc etc

Responsibilities

  • Ad hoc tool generation, e.g. Java J2EE problem solving/trouble-shooting, SQL queries, Unix scriptsfor investigating, detecting or correcting system problems, including applying Emergency Bug Fixes where appropriate
  • Acting as the main point of contact for both users and for other members of development groups
  • Taking ownership of problems/issues - prioritizing & taking through the resolution including follow up and communication back to the business
  • Demand Management for their User Group - proactively identifying demands, specifying the enhancements, liaising with development teams and participating in UAT where appropriate
  • Receives and logs calls from clients using appropriate processes, procedures and technology
  • Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves functional and technical problems and business critical incidents through research and analysis of trends, root causes, and business impact
Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years experience in a support role within Application/Production or Service Delivery team e.g. help desk or equivalent call center experience
  • Experience working within the Financial Industry, with a good understanding of business terminology and business process. Prior investment banking or financial markets experience is imperative
  • Excellent communication required - verbal and written
  • Java programming, trouble-shooting & bug-fixing skills
  • RDBMS/database interrogation and SQL writing skills - in Sybase , SQL Server or Oracle
  • Unix support/problem solving/diagnosis & scripting skills - Perl or Shell or Ruby &/or VBA/Access
  • Prior Financial Markets/Financial Services experience - Equities &/or Derivatives or a similar trading business of benefit but not imperative
