Sybase SQL Developer / Analyst Programmer with Java exposure. Leading global Investment Banking & Investment Management/Funds firm requires a Sybase/Java Developer to join it's tactical/small projects group. The Sybase Developer will be responsible for the design, build, assessment and troubleshooting of software applications across portfolio management, performance & risk, trading & the back-office/settlements. The organization has 100's of small development initiatives in the pipeline - developing in Sybase SQL , Java and XML - and the Developer will pick up many of these on a multiple- concurrent project basis.
Responsibilities- Design, development, build & support of complex tey tactical/small projects Sybase SQL/RDBMS systems
- Research, document, and implement program requirements and specifications
- Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
- Run and monitor performance tests on new and existing software for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging
- Administer diagnostic analysis of test results and deliver solutions to critical areas
- Develop an awareness of programming and design alternatives
- Assist in the cultivation and disseminate knowledge of application development best practices
- Liaise with systems administrators, systems analysts, programmers, and other software engineers to resolve any defects in supported applications
- Perform software improvements and upgrades to applications
- 3-5 yrs + Sybase/RDBMS practical RDBMS experience - Sybase Transact SQL or SQL Server preferred - experience, including demonstrable knowledge and experience writing and debugging stored procedures and triggers
- Object Oriented methodology experience preferred
- Demonstrable Client/Server or web development experience using Java. Some experience with Spring an advantage
- Exposure to XML/XSL or other messaging standards e.g. SWIFT, FIX, Chess preferred
- Exposure to and basic understanding of Windows operating system essential and Unix/Linux desirable
- Exposure to Data Modelling techniques and tools an advantage
- Experience with automated regression testing / continuous integration an advantage
- Experience with BPM tools, including Lombardi an advantage
