Description

Our client has a requirement for an OHandS Manager to ensure compliance with relevant OHandS legislation and to be able execute the OHandS management system. Experience is required in mentoring and giving guidance to management through to all level of employees on all matters relating to OHandS and able to work within a company to be able to achieve agreed project outcomes based on time and cost constraints. Also having knowledge and experience in being able to represent the organisation at public forums and in interactions with Federal, State and Local Government, and other stakeholders, as well as negotiate on behalf of the company with external stakeholder for projects with substantial OHandS components.

MAIN TASKS
Effectively project manage of all OHandS projects including the strategic management plan, improvement programs and OHandS Strategy Preparation
Report preparation including Annual, Board and Executive Group and any additional OHandS reporting requirements
Participate and contribute in a positive fashion on major projects where there is an OHandS aspect
Review, develop, monitor and report on the progress of the OHandS progress arising from OHandS Strategy Commitments, OHandS Management Plan(s), OHandS Improvement Plans, Audits and monitoring of the OHandS performance of contractors and tenants
Provide information and recommendations to Committees on current and future issues and legislation changes
Monitor developments in national and international OHandS standards and trends that affect the operations. Develop appropriate policy and operational responses to incorporate standards and developments
Establish positive relationships with stakeholders and foster mutual understanding of the operations of stakeholders
Provide advice and information to other company departments. Ensure OHandS Management System is incorporated in other Department`s activities and actions. Provide technical advice as required or as needed. Contribute to the development of commercial opportunities. Facilitate OHandS training
Review OHandS incidents. Make recommendations on modifications or changes to procedures and practices
Make decisions and take actions within the spirit and intent of required procedures, policies and binding OHandS legislation
Annual OHandS Report published to an acceptable standard and on time
Promote a safety culture within working teams and maintain a safe working environment in accordance with the safety framework and to respond to any workplace injury or incidents immediately conducting a full investigation
Promote an environmentally conscious culture, ensure environmental risks are identified and minimised and ensure operations are in accordance with the environmental framework

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Safety and Health and/or Environmental Science;
Working knowledge of State and Federal legislation
